The Human Figure, in all of its extensions, has been a topic of conversation in art from the date of its conception. Throughout our many civilizations, it has consistently carried with it perceptions, taboos and stigmas varying from culture to culture. The subject has manifested itself as an iconic dilemma in our current zeitgeist, arousing controversy across various creative industries due to the manipulation and distortion of both the male and female bodies.
The Young Artist Initiative aims to contribute to the conversation by instilling the modern perceptions of the human figure as the conceptual base of its next installation. Each artist has been presented with the challenge of interpreting and redacting the context surrounding the modern perceptions of the human figure. Their performances and installations will be presented as individual interpretations on the matter, expressed through each of their personal aesthetics and methodologies.
We invite you to enjoy and ponder the reflection of Miami’s Collective of Young Artists on Friday, July 15th in the heart of Swim Week 2016 at the SLS South Beach!
